Put your practice on the map…Google Maps

Google Map for Nurse Practitioner PracticesI read “Getting Listed in Google Maps Even More Important” over at Duct Tape Marketing (DTM) and immediately saw the potential for Nurse Practitioner based businesses.  I’ve already advocated getting yourself listed in the local searches through Google, but this new search takes it to a new level.

Here’s what you need to do:

  1. Sign up for a Google Account (there is more to this than just a local listing..trust me on this)
  2. Visit Google Local Business Center
  3. DTM advocates that you enhance your profile by adding lots of descriptions, images and videos
  4. Optimize your web site for the local searches. Use local terms, links, suburb names etc. Add you business address and phone number on every page.
  5. Have people review your profile. This is important. People want to know what others think (ie, word-of-mouth). Ask you “raving fans” to comment on you listing.

Remember, always keep track of where your patients come from. I”ll bet you lunch that over time, you’ll see more and more new clients coming your way. Afterall, not everyone is doing this!

Let us know how this works for you.

  1. Great points here. Local Google visibility honestly makes a huge difference for service-based businesses now, especially when combined with reviews and a properly optimized website. I’ve seen even small local businesses grow noticeably just by improving their Google Maps presence and local SEO.
