Every November, we celebrate NP Week. It’s a great time to collectively spread the word that we exist, are available to see patients and that we are just all around fabulous. It’s time to toot your own horn!
AANP has made that easy for all of us. On their website, they have published a 19 page PDF document, the “NPWeek Binder”

that is full of facts, suggested activities, templates and scripts you can use in your community to help spread the word about NPs.

I recently took one of those scripts, adjusted it slightly and created a video that you see above.  And the great thing is, you can do the same. But before I tell you what I did, here are are few suggestions on how you can use the scripts.

1.  If you have a blog, write a short article based on the information you can find in the binder. Be sure to share with your network.

2.  Write a short article for your local newspaper.

3.  Record an audio recording for your office based on these scripts. It would be great for people to hear a bit of information while on hold.

4. Use our phone to record a short video of you “reading” the script. (Practice first, you don’t want to appear to be “reading”.  You can upload that video to your practice website and share in your social media channels.

5.  Create a video as a “screencast”. Here’s what I did. I created some bullet points using PowerPoint™ (or keynote) and then recorded my voice reading my personalized script using a program called Screenflow. I then added music, saved the file and uploaded it to YouTube.

You can easily do this yourself without using any fancy software. Create the PowerPoint™ or keynote slides (or use Google docs) and then record using a new online tool called Jing. Upload the video to your favorite video sharing site.
