Nurse and Nurse Practitioner Blogs from The Nerdy Nurse

Nurses and Nurse Practitioners blogging! If you are not yet aware of The Nerdy Nurse, Brittney Wilson, BSN, RN, you should get to know her. She runs the Nerdy Nurse Blog and has been featured on the SAGEClinician Podcast.

The-Ultimate-List-of-Nurse-Blogs-and-Social-Media-Accounts-to-Follow_miniBritney recently posted The Ultimate List of Nurse Blogs and Social Media Accounts to Follow. It’s a great list, and NPBusiness.ORG is honored to be included. If you don’t know why you should consider blogging, read her post about Nurses Need to Learn: The business of Blogging. It’s something I’ve been saying for years.

A post draft (i.e., started but not yet published – life sometimes gets in the way of blogging!) has been in the works on NP bloggers and podcasters (yikes, I must finish it!). Let me highlight now a few Nurse Practitioners who blog to help round out Brittney’s list.

I promise to get a larger list of NP Bloggers and Podcasters out soon.  In the meantime if you are a NP blogger/podcaster, I invite you to tell us tell us about your blog in the comments below.

  1. I am a nurse practitioner in Australia and have just started my own blog

It’s just got up and running so I’d love to join your community to gain inspiration. My blog aims to document my journey throughout my career and to really get to the heart of what it is to be a nurse. I also hope to discuss current issues in nursing and about am to start a post about emotional resilience and intelligence

  2. I would very much like to start a type of interactive blog where patients can ask questions about their diagnosis etc and get educated more than their quick 15 minute visit would allow. I’ve been an NP for over 15 years and see this gap in education getting wider. Does this exist already? Where do I start? Thanks

  3. Jennie, I don’t know of anything like this that is being done by a professional. Probably being done in the lay community where they are not subject to the same rules, regulations and liability that we are. Personally, I would not do it, but if you wish to go this route, you’ll need to have a medial liability attorney and HIPAA consultant work with you. There are likely other ways to educate and share information that would not open you to the risks this invokes.
