I have a question regarding billing but have not been able to find the answer. I am employeed by a hospital, where my SS# is used for billing purposes in NY. I have a seperate, private practice in NJ for which I set up a company and Tax Id number, which I am using for the NJ practice. I also want to see patients in New York seperate from my ny hospital and provide care without involving my SS#, as this is linked to my hospital’s billing office. How can I bill patients for care provided in this situation? Should I use the tax ID for my NJ office? If so, is it legal for a company based in NJ proved care in NY? I am licensed in both states.
Thanks for your help.

If your NY office is just a satellite of your NJ office, you should use your tax ID# for the business. You will need to let your payors know that you have more than one office.
