Hi Jan
I am interested in starting my own private practice that is a clinic based practice. However, I am interested in starting off with independent practice within the assisted living centers. My question is in relation to starting the practice in regards to the states requirements. I live in a state that requires a collaborative agreement with a physician. Is there any way to get around having the collaborative agreement, and if not how would I go about marketing to obtain one so that I can practice independently.
Anita
Hi Anita,
If your state requires a collaborative practice agreement, that is what you will have to have. There are many articles on this site as well as http://www.NursePractitionerBusinessOwner.com. Just do a search for collaborative agreements.
In Addition, most of the books we’ve recommended have sections on obtaining an collaborator. See: http://npbusiness.org/2007/04/22/practice-startup-essential-reading/
