NursePractitionerBusinessOwner.com™ Provides Business Direction to Nurse Practitioners Answering the Call to the Primary Care Shortage

Seattle, WA (PRWEB) July 30, 2010

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, released a study in June 2010 indicating that 46.3 million Americans were without health insurance in 2009. (1) As healthcare reform is employed throughout the country, a vast majority of those 46.3 million will be in need of health care services and experts are concerned there will be a shortage of Primary Care providers. Nurse Practitioners are primed to be an answer to the impending shortage and NursePractitionerBusinessOwner.com (NPBO™) is here to help those Nurse Practitioners gain the information they need to open their own businesses.

Nurse Practitioners not only must meet and maintain rigorous licensing and certification standards, they also must complete years of education culminating in a Masters or Doctorate degree. While Nurse Practitioners have long been recognized by state and federal agencies as well qualified contributors to the health care system, now Nurse Practitioners must prepare themselves to be business owners as well.

NPBO™ is an online community specifically designed for Nurse Practitioners exploring, starting or building their own business. NPBO™ includes practical business information such as how to choose a business structure and how to write a business plan as well as realistic advice about billing, coding, and hiring staff. Member’s have full access to the hours of expert advice from not only the nation’s top NP business owners, but also general business experts, via audio and video replays.

From guidance about business startup to business operations, NPBO™ offers quality information as well as a community of like-minded individuals to help Nurse Practitioners bring their dream of business ownership to fruition. With more Nurse Practitioner owned offices and clinics, access to excellent primary health care will be significantly improved.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

NursePractitionerBusinessOwner.com Announces First Ever Survey to Capture Number of NPs in Business.

Seattle, WA (June 18, 2010) – Nurse Practitioner Business Owner (NPBO™), the leading online community for Nurse Practitioners in business, announces an opportunity for Nurse Practitioners to participate in the first ever survey for NPs in business. According to the Pearson Report, there are now almost 158,000 Nurse Practitioners in the United States, however, the actual number of NPs in their own business is unknown. The purpose of this project is to discover how many NPs own their own business and practices as well as how many are considering joining their ranks.

“Within the next few years, nearly 32 million Americans will gain health insurance. It’s a well known fact that there is a health care provider shortage. Nurse Practitioners are, and will continue to help fill that gap. As of right now, no one knows how many of us are in our own practices and how many NPs want to start their own practices to help meet the needs of the American public.” said Barbara C. Phillips, NP, and founder of NPBO™. “We want as many NPs as possible to take the survey, which can be found online at www.NPBusinessSurvey.com. The survey should take participants no more than five-seven minutes to complete ” said Ms. Phillips.

All survey participants will have the opportunity to receive the survey results. Ms. Phillips anticipates publishing a report of the survey later in the year.

About the Survey
The survey can be accessed online by visiting www.NPBusinessSurvey.com and is available now.
