Medicaid Prescription - more info

Published by bcp at 12:00 pm under NP Practice

This past week, I ran into various different issues with the new Medicaid prescription laws.

The gist of it is, that those on Medicaid alone, will have to have their prescriptions faxed into the pharmacy or written on tamper proof paper.  Pharmacies were asking for us to do with this managed care as well – which was not part of this ruling.

The National Association of State Medicaid Directors website has a list for links to EACH state and the rules as they apply to your state. This came in handy…as I was able to fax the pharmacies the rules if there was a question.

Find your state and get a copy of your local rules: http://www.nasmd.org/issues/trpp.asp

Did you run into any problems?

Hello Everyone…. I can’t seem to get on a live interview because something is always happening…. Please keep Mississippi in your thoughts and prayers… (5) tornadoes touched down on Friday. I was in my clinic and a tree fell on my clinic. A tree fell on my home also… and the power is still out in some areas of my community

We have sirens to warn us of impending storms I just went into the hall and stayed there….

    Ritha,

I’m so sorry to hear this. I cannot begin to imagine what you must be going through. Please keep us posted as you are able.

What part of Mississippi are you in?

    Blessings,

    Barbara

    Ritha,
I can commiserate with you as I live in a very hurricane prone area as well as storm prone with tornadoes thrown in. Scary to say the least and intimidating especially for patients who may or may not be in your office or in their home and anticipating a disaster such as you are describing. And then the ordeal of having to wait for all utilities to come on while fighting off mildue and lack of food and water if not prepared for can make for a very stressful time.
My thoughts and prayers are with you and all in your area that no one gets hurt and that life is back to normal asap!
    Sincerely,
    Nina Ravey

Ritha, Sorry to hear about your storm damage. My husband was in a tornado recently and it really spooked him. Now he watches the sky when the bad storms come through. I don’t really think that he’s aware that he’s doing it.

Barbara, thanks for putting so much useful information for our practice efforts on this site! Please stop by and see the pics of my first grandson soon!
