“Keeping in touch with one another is the key to advancing our profession.” Says Jim Jolly designer of nurpractitionerforum.com. He started the website in August of this year as a way of communicating with NPs from all around the world.
Jim, a Nurse Practitioner in Central California, felt isolated when it came to NP issues. “Sure you can read everything you want in magazines and on the internet,” Jim said “but if you want a straight answer to questions like salary, education, or practice issues it sure is nice to be able to just ask others in the field.”
Included on the website is a page dedicated to NPs in the news. News articles from non-clinical magazines and newspapers from around the world that help NPs understand what the general public is being told about us and our practice. The articles are updated about every two or three days as they come available.
The forum and the NP news is free to anyone wanting to stay in touch with the goings on in the NP profession. Please visit
www.nursepractitionerforum.com for more information or to participate.

Do you know who you are targeting?
When starting a business, one of the most fundamental tasks that face us is identifying our target market. So many of us make the mistake that our practice or business is going to be for every one. Obviously that is not the case. Continue Reading »

I received a question from a new FNP. One of the current activities is that she has become a distributor for a company that promotes health and nutritional supplements to the public. Her question has to do with her clients or herself notifying their health care providers that they are taking supplements. Continue Reading »

Micro-Practices is a term I believe was originally coined by Gordon Moore M.D. approximately 5 years ago. His article was originally published in Family Practice Management in 2002. (Going Solo, Making the Leap; Going Solo, One Doc, One Room, One Year Later; Answers to Questions about Idealized Solo Practice). Continue Reading »
